Hanging out with young health conscious moms is starting to be something I really enjoy. My parenting skills are a result of how my parents raised me. I decided to do everything the opposite of what they did because I did not want to recreate myself. Unfortunately, I have experienced sightings of “little cloned Pats”!

Now that I have adult children, I do feel I owe my mom an apology, because I blamed her for EVERYTHING! I was not a healthy mom when my children were young. I fed my babies Gerber Baby food. UGH!!! I had no idea what GMOs were, or how harmful they are to our health. I was nutritionally ignorant and it was apparent by our diet.

Our youngest daughter is a  vegan by her choice. Before she changed her lifestyle her favorite lunch was peanut butter and marshmallow cream on white bread with Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, and a large glass of milk.(I feel bad about that) I wish I could go back and  make it right, but I can’t. What I can do is help others. This is why I enjoy spending time with young moms, we inevitably end up juicing. I love that these beautiful mothers care about what their children are eating. Not only do their kids love juice, they love to help with preparing the juice. It is AWESOME!

By having a healthy home you are setting up your children for success. Educating them at an early age helps them overcome sickness caused by an unhealthy diet. The young moms I have been with are teaching their kids that you buy produce from a farm and not a store. I LOVE it!!!

If you have children it is important to keep introducing fresh fruits and vegetables. If they try it once and don’t like it, that is okay, keep having them taste it every time you serve it, and you will be amazed at how their taste buds will change. I have watched this transform my family.

I know I repeat this often, but it’s important, keep the bad stuff out and the good stuff in. If the choice is between a banana and an orange, you win! If the choice is between a banana and a Oreo, the Oreo wins! This is simple, but I have lived it out and it works.

I am happy to be a healthy raw mom. Although I missed it when I was a young mom, being an old mom helps me fulfill what Titus 2:4 teaches; older women should encourage the younger women in what is good! Nourishing yourself and loved ones with fresh organic food is a good thing!

Living right now raw has certainly converted my ordinary kitchen into a teaching kitchen and that is a WONDERFUL thing!

  1. I love your blog! It is inspiring to see the changes your family has made together. I keep trying myself to get everyone motivated (hubby and 3 kids) but everyone always wants Oreos and Pringles 😦 Soda is my husbands weakness… Honestly, it is difficult to argue because the healthy stuff is expensive (I know – not in the long run) Anyway, I have started gardening and juicing, have 12 different veggies growing in my back yard. I pray every day for the Lord to give me the healthy appetite I desire (losing 50 lbs. would be great too) Please keep posting more about how you transitioned into this way of life! It really pushes others to move forward 🙂 Blessings!!
